Ever walk out of the house and forgot your keys?...oppps doors locked...darn. Or hate carrying your keys when you go for a run?...Heres your solution. For us this is on a multi-family appartment building and this locks the "common area". A simple twist on the back allows you to lock or unlock the unit...a front key is used if the battery dies, and the codes are changeble at your will or whim as it were. This was our second try at a keyless solution. We had a Bio-lock unit. And although I never had issues....my wife and some others did...it just would not read there thumbs no matter what they tried. (maybe there fingers are too small?....anyhow.) This unit seems good so far. It installed in about 15 min with a manual philips screwdriver. Very simple. Programs via a master code. It seems well built and durable. Schlage offers a lifetime on finish and materials but only a year on the electronics.

These locks are absolutly fantastic, you can change the code for different people and delete them when you want. I would give it a 5 star if we didnt have small grandchildren. I do however need to advise that if you have small children I would suggest the "knob" style keypad lock and not the lever style. My 16 month old granddaughter opened it in a split second and was out the door. At home she cannot do the knob yet and I am changing mine to the knob type. I called Schelage and after waiting on hold for 14 minutes to speak with a human, they told me they are not interchangable therefore we have to buy an entire new lock set. Hope this helps someone out there.

I have used many keypad locks because I hate having lots of keys in my pocket. These Schlage locks are the best I have ever used. I have replaced all my other keypad style locks with this type. I have used both this knob type and also the dead bolts. They are great. Batteries last a long time and they are easy to install.This particular variety has a switch above the knob so the knob can remain unlocked from the outside. I use this for my entry to my pool lanai area so that the kids can come in and out without keying in a combination. However, on my other doors, I use the one without the switch so I know they are always locked when they are closed. Every exterior door in my house has a Schlage keypad lock. They are expensive, but worth it. The finish on them lasts for many years.One feature these locks has is being able to add multiple combinations. I have one for regular family members who are told not to tell anyone the combination. I have another combination for situations where someone might need to get in the house when we are not there. I can then change that combination later. Comes in very handy. This is especially good at my office where I have employees change. No longer do I have to change locks. I just change combinations. Great!

I purchased the Schlage electronic deadbolt to allow entry into our house in case I didn't have a key with me. It works very well. Only drawback that I see is that it needs to be placed on a solid door without a glass panel as the lock has a lever on the inside that operates the deadbolt. There is no option for key locking from the inside, only the lever. Locks only keep honest people out, so it's better to have a deadbolt that is key lockable from both sides if you have an exterior door with glass panels. No need making it easier for a thief to get in than is necessary.

I recently bought one of these for our home after we moved in. Now I don't need to fumble with keys every time I need to ket in the house, and I don't have to worry about kids losing or forgetting keys.Like other schlage locks I have owned, this unit seems to be very well made, sturdy, and easy to install. The programming of codes is simple, and codes can be added or deleted just by using the keypad. Keypad use as far as entering codes or even updating codes is straighforward. The fact that a simple button push "lights up" the buttons at night is also cool.The buttons are also epoxy-coated, so the numbers won't "wear off" thus revealing the codes used. I have a separate code for each family member, and can easily add codes if I have a contractor stopping by.A key can be used to open the lock if for some reason the electronic part stops functioning (too cold from sub-sero weather, perhaps?). Since this is a Schlage lock, it can even be re-keyed so that the key you have matches the other Schlage locks your house may have.

I bought two of these and installed them myself with very little trouble (single woman not all that handy!). One of the doors was a brand new totally 'standard' door and the strikeplate that was included was not the right shape though I made it fit ok. I was just surprised that it did not fit out of the box. Not a big deal at all though. The hardest part was getting the right shape plate on it- you have to pry pretty hard and I worried I would damage it.I was really excited about not needing to dig out my key when I get home (my car does not require a key either) and that aspect is as nice as I had hoped. But I also like that it is perfectly convenient to leave the door locked at all times so you don't have to worry whether you forgot to lock it after coming in from checking the mail for example. And you do not have to worry that you will lock yourself out either. I struggled with whether to get the keypad on the deadbolt or the handle and ended up with this one because it seemed like you might need 2 hands to open the door if you get the keypad on the deadbolt. Their website makes it sound like that is safer for an exterior door though... not sure why. I added a double cylinder deadbolt too so suspect that is fine.I love the look of the curved handle but one of my doors is hard to open (unrelated to the handle/locks) and the shape of the handle makes it harder to open and close compared to a knob. Hopefully I can fix that separate problem but if your doors are tight it might…

I wanted the keyless entry with an ability to set/reset multiple codes as needed (family, house-sitter, etc.). When I go for a run I do not want to have to carry a key. It works great and provides all the features I neede. It fits into the existing deadbolt holes and the color and texture matched the door handle I already had and did not want to change. The only issue I have is that it can be a bit difficult to turn sometimes. It is feels as if it binds sometimes. I am still looking into that.

The continuous turn knob on the outside prevents wrench attacks, an outstanding feature. Several codes can be entered, and easy deletion, in case you change cleaning services, for instance, makes it very effective. All metal fabrication of external parts makes for a good-looking unit, both on the outside and the inside of the door. Really easy to operate, with a minimum of practice. Not having to have keys, either to lock or unlock, is a real pleasure.
